My professional career: I was trained as a surveyor and worked in the private sector in Switzerland and abroad for about 12 years before accepting a professorship in Geographic Information Science (GIS) at University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland FHNW. I taught and researched there for another 12 years before finally deciding to return to the private sector. I returned to work for the Swiss Railwaycompany SBB AG for 4.5 years. I helped setting up a drone competence centre at SBB AG, before leading an SBB innovation cell at EPFL in Lausanne. Since the beginning of 2020, I have been working for the Swiss Confederation at the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS), where I have been in charge of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and (geo)data in various roles. In 2022, I successfully completed a professional development course in the field of Data Science.
